Animation

An exciting local project working with Staffordshire County Council to promote and support safe and sustainable travel in Staffordshire.

We produced a combination of entertaining and factual animations to highlight the benefits of eco-friendly travel. Whether it be walking, scooting or cycling. The animations show just how fun the school commute can be with just a little imagination. They also highlight the benefits for physical health, mental health, independence as well as being cheaper and better for the environment!

Project Journey

The Challenge

The Council are are always a great to work with! They introduce a wide range of exciting and diverse campaigns and often use animation to help spread the message and engage young people with their activities.

This particular campaign was already well established but we still wanted to inject some Tentacle pizazz into it. We looked at the content they already had out there and wanted to produce something that would fit in with their current style and get the key messages across effectively.

By producing a mixture of factual and entertainment pieces we could make them more focussed for their intended use. The animations will be used across social media as well as in schools. All the animations are intended to work together as a suite.

We wanted to show how travelling to school can be fun and exciting, almost as if you were flying through space in a rocket or even exploring a jungle! Every trip to school is an adventure, why not make yours as exciting as possible?

The Solution

We wanted to develop on the campaigns current material, adding in a host of new characters that would be relateable and fun.

Above are some concepts of the characters and below shows them being developed into animateable rigs.

Along side the characters we looked at the environments, which we wanted to be widespread. Having a mixture of relatable settings right through to wierd and wonderful places like the jungle or space!

So whats next? its time to bring it all to life! We used a combination of Adobe Animate and After effects to get the desired look for these animations. The shots went through extensive passes from character animation, background animation right through to final lighting and effects animation.
